Kristjan has been working at the Institute of Baltic Studies since year 2007, when he joined as a project-based analyst in the public procurement of preparing for the state programme „Integration in Estonian Society 2008-2013”. His main areas of work and interest focus on migration and integration, ethnic conflicts, identity politics, and other topics associated mainly with ethnic minorities. Besides that, he has a very great interest on the topics related with information society, ICT and e-governance.

Kristjan has graduated special class in maths from the Hugo Treffner Gymnasium, holds BA degree in Political Science and MA degree in Comparative Politics from the University of Tartu, and has received during his studies various long-term scholarships for studying abroad, especially at the universities in Germany and in Georgia. He has working experience in the public sector in the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications as well as in the Ministry of Education and Research. In addition to the work at IBS, Kristjan is lecturing and giving seminaries at the Department of Political Science at the University of Tartu on the topics of nationalism and ethnopolitics.
