The landscape architect creates comfortable, safe and interesting landscape spaces. These include both residential areas and recreation areas. Additionally, they work on public urban spaces and private outdoor spaces for clients. Moreover, landscape architects participate in the preparation of general and detailed plans. They also assess the visual quality of the landscape. Furthermore, they draw up plans for landscape maintenance, green area maintenance, and the preservation of landscape values. When planning measures and activities to promote, plan, create, or restore the environment, cultural, social, economic, technical, environmental, and other aspects are considered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el\">There is a trend in Europe towards a more holistic approach to the design of the living environment and greater involvement of landscape architects in the development of the common space that supports a healthy lifestyle and well-being. However, there is currently no precise overview of landscape architects and the needs of the organisations that hire them in Estonia. Therefore, the aim of the study commissioned by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iflaworld.com\/membership\/emal\">Estonian Association of Landscape Architects (EMAL)<\/a> is to get an overview of landscape architecture education, the labour market and development needs in Estonia. Additionally, several changes have taken or are taking place in the teaching of landscape architecture. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading wp-el\">The study aims to answer the following questions:\u00a0<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list wp-el\">\n<li>Where do landscape architects work in Estonia, and what is their education?\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What is the employers\u2019 assessment of the need for landscape architects (including skills and competencies needed)?\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What influences starting a job in another field and then returning back to work in the field of landscape architecture?\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In which direction is the field developing?\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to develop the study of landscape architecture even further?\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What are the trends of neighbouring countries in studying and applying landscape architecture?\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el\">In order to find answers to the questions, an overview of the current situation and needs will be provided.
