The HEAT project, with partners from Estonia, Finland, Latvia and Sweden, addresses the problem of fragmented urban planning and cycling infrastructure and the low engagement of citizens in the planning processes. In the next three years, HEAT wants to bring citizens and city planners together to the center of urban planning and through interactive workshops and campaigns, help create a joint vision of biking infrastructure in the target regions. These awareness raising campaigns will also help popularize biking and showcase its many economic and health benefits, which are calculated by city representatives with the help of the HEAT tool.<\/p>\n

The project aims to contribute to the planning of healthier, more active and inclusive urban areas in the CB region, in which biking is a safe, popular and acceptable mode of transport. In the project, IBS will develop with the help of other partners a smart interactive tool for better citizen engagement, help Tartu City in its strategic planning regarding bike sharing and biking infrastructure and contribute to the creation of healthier and greener cities in the target region.<\/p>\n

The project is funded by Interreg Central Baltic, the programme priority specific objective is better urban planning in the Central Baltic region. The lead partner of the project is It\u00e4meren alueen Terveet Kaupungit ry (Baltic Region Healthy Cities Association).<\/p>\n
