The Smart Cities Marketplace<\/a> is an initiative supported by the European Commission. It brings together cities, industry, SMEs, investors, banks, research and other climate-neutral and Smart City actors. The Smart Cities Marketplace plays an important role in speeding up the green transition of cities in Europe. All of that is by improving citizens\u2019 quality of life, increasing the competitiveness of European cities and industry as well as reaching European energy and climate targets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It complements current EU efforts such as RePowerEU<\/a>. It provides a complete catalogue of offers, such as calls for free technical assistance<\/strong> and 1-to-1-consultancy services for city-led consortia close to the financing stage<\/strong>. The programme also includes financing masterclasses and fine-tuned matchmaking for the financing of urban projects<\/strong>. Additionally, it strengthens partnerships with other EU initiatives<\/strong>, such as the Covenant of Mayors<\/a>, Scalable Cities, CIVITAS<\/a>, Living-in.eu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cities participating in the Smart Cities Marketplace activities can benefit from 1-to-1 consultancy services and technical assistance. These services help develop their project ideas. The Smart Cities Marketplace provides regular matchmaking services to help cities and city consortia with their project proposals to achieve climate neutrality. On a regular basis, calls for applications<\/a> are published. These aim to help with identifying projects or further shaping project ideas to become bankable through tailor-made technical assistance. Matchmaking services also aim to help investors to find smart city proposals. Deal meetings with the platform\u2019s\u00a0Investor Network<\/a><\/strong> can further support projects with a high maturity level. Members of the Smart Cities Marketplace Investor Network facilitate and\/or provide financing to climate-neutral and Smart City projects. These projects support the transition towards a low-carbon, resource-efficient and competitive economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cities can also join Focus or Discussion Groups<\/a> where participants can exchange experience, cooperate, support and discuss a specific topic. The marketplace provides access to a large community of climate-neutral and Smart City professionals that paves the way for new climate-neutral and Smart City projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Smart Cities Marketplace includes the Institute of Baltic Studies in its support structure. Especially in contributing to tasks related to matchmaking and 1-on-1 consultancy services, as well as the thematic discussion and focus groups. IBS is also the local contact point of the Smart Cities Marketplace in Estonia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
