Political participation of third country nationals on national and local level

This publication forms part of the project “Political participation of third country nationals on national and local level in selected EU countries”, supported by PASOS (Policy Association for an Open Society) through an initial grant by the Local Government and Public Service Reform Initiative (LGI) of Open Society Foundations. The aim of this project was to find answer to the question – in which direction are Latvia, Estonia and Poland headed to with their generally declared viewpoints to change the society more welcoming towards immigrants, in particular to provide immigrants equal opportunities to participate in the political and social life of the host country. To find the answer to this question, the forms of current political participation were analysed (evaluation of the legislation and mapping the personal experiences of participants) in different thematic areas.

Project partners: Centre for Public Policy PROVIDUS (Latvia), Institute of Public Affairs (Poland), Institute of Baltic Studies (Estonia), Migration Policy Group (Belgium).
