Mapping Civic Education in Estonia
Established in 2021, THE CIVICS Innovation Hub functions as a pan-European non-profit organization. Its core objective is to enhance the democratic competence, self-efficacy, and resilience of European citizens through a grassroots approach. Through its prominent initiative called “Mapping civic education in Europe,” THE CIVICS collaborates with local partners in each country to systematically chart the landscape of civic education across the continent.
The purpose of the mapping is to identify the various entities engaged in civic education, encompassing both formal and informal approaches. It outlines their areas of focus within society, explores potential collaborations, and ultimately delves into their requirements for developing robust and inventive solutions to address the challenges confronting European citizens. In the project the Institute of Baltic Studies role is to actively participate as a project promotor and partner in Estonia.
Project objectives in Estonia:
- Translating the questionnaire to Estonian
- Identifying local organizations and promoting the mapping
- Publishing an expert opinion piece
